Maintaining commitment to a weight loss strategy is a challenge for many. It may seem easy to begin with, when our goals don't seem so far away. However, eventually motivation usually dwindles, and you start to give up. This is not something that occurs with everyone. People can get the weight loss they want, and keep it off. How do people maintain their goal weight for so long?
Clarify your weight loss goals to increase your chances of success. Do you want to lose some pounds and be able to fit into your clothes? Have you already decided on a weight you'd like to reach? Is it important to you to be in shape and have extra energy?
Write everything down to keep track of how you are doing. Only record your weight one time per week. If you weigh yourself too often, it can be a detriment to your self-esteem. You should keep track of all of the foods you consume and their calorie count in a food diary. It is imperative to not leave out drinks and snacks! The act of logging food often helps you focus on what you choose to eat or drink and can prevent you from making a bad, short-term decision without thinking.
Try not to allow yourself to become famished. It is hard to control what you are eating when you are really hungry. Plan out each meal ahead of time and bring snacks along. Whenever you can you, should take you lunch with you from home. That way you can realize substantial financial savings and reduce the likelihood of binging on unhealthy foods.
You should try to integrate working out into your weight loss regime as well. Exercise added to your healthy diet will facilitate your progress. To help you stay motivated to exercise, find activities you enjoy. Find fun activities that are both healthy and vigorous. Find exercise classes that intrigue you and get to know your classmates so that you develop the type of social interaction that keeps you motivated to return.
Even though most people have heard this, many don't do it. Get rid of the high-calorie snacks in your home. If they are not on hand, then you will not reach for them out of temptation. Replace the junk food with healthy snacks. Try to remove negative options from your life: you can't eat what you don't have.
The support of friends and family goes a long way towards helping you stick with the plan. Reach out to your family and friends and ask them to encourage you along the away. Your friends can be big time supporters when the going gets tough. Your buddies will be able to get you moving when you would much rather sit at home on the couch. Just remember, you would do the same for them if the roles were reversed.
