At times, it is hard to stay motivated. When you first start losing weight, there is usually a little flurry of weight loss that is very encouraging. Then you tend to hit a plateau, and this can cause you to feel discouraged and lose interest in your project. You may notice others who are losing weight at a quicker pace and showing more progression. Naturally, you'll question why they are getting those results, and you aren't. What are the habits of successful people?
The first step in weight loss is to set out clear aims. Can you visualize a certain number that you would like to see on the scale? Are you losing weight so that you can buy the new clothing styles in trimmer sizes, or do you really want to feel better in your own clothing that has become too tight and restrictive? Are you looking to increase your endurance our are looking to improve your physical appearance?
You should try keeping a journal or diary about your weight loss. It's as simple as jotting down your daily food intake and weight. After you've written down your food intake, you can compare how much weight you've lost to what foods you've been eating and make any necessary changes.
When you become too hungry, you get irrational in your food choices. Try and stay away from this! Not planning your meals ahead of time is a surefire way to get caught in the junk food trap. Always have them handy when you are on the go. When you can't be home, pack a lunch. This will save you money, and save your diet.
The two staples of any weight loss plan are diet and exercise. Find the workout that you enjoy doing the most, and do it at least 3 times a week. If you don't enjoy doing certain exercises, find some fun activity to do as a replacement. When getting together with your friends, you can all take a walk. Try taking a formal dancing class if you like dancing. If hiking is your passion, then head out in search of new trails!
Keep anything you can't eat out of your home. Your family may take some time getting used to this healthier way of eating, but they will adjust given time. Load up the fridge with fruits, veggies and other healthy items. Do not worry, no one will have to go hungry. A portable, healthy and delicious snack is an apple. It can be prepared a variety of ways and is very nutritious. Granola is another good choice, among many other options.
Invite a friend to exercise with you. It is easier to skip a day for a flimsy reason when we have no one else to answer to but ourselves. When you work out with a friend, it is more likely you will keep going. You can also help each other by giving helpful advice, motivation when needed and encouragement when someone reaches a hump in their weight loss journey.
