It's difficult to stay focused on the reasons you're working to lose weight. You likely started your plan wholeheartedly and completely focused on your goals. As time progressed, however, you lost focus. You may notice others who are losing weight at a quicker pace and showing more progression. Naturally, you'll question why they are getting those results, and you aren't. What are the habits of successful people?
Identifying your goals, whether it pertains to a certain amount of weight lost or physical aesthetics, is the first step to losing weight. Think about whether you want to lose a few pounds, or whether you want to drop an entire clothing size. Figure out why losing weight is important to you. Is it because you want more energy, or because you have a specific goal in mind, like dropping a few dress sizes?
List your weight loss progress on a weekly basis. Write your weight in a journal so you can keep track of it. In another section of the same book, keep a journal of the food that you are eating. Make yourself accountable for what you eat each day by jotting down the foods you eat. Knowing that you have to write down bad choices will make you less likely to actually choose them.
When you are very hungry, you tend to make unhealthy food decisions. Try to cook and bring your own meals with you when you leave the house. It is much wiser to take your lunch to work or school, rather than eating out. If you bring your lunch to work with you, it is easier to eat healthy. Because it normally costs less to bring your lunch than to dine out, you will most likely find that you are saving money while whittling your waistline.
Eating healthy foods is not the only thing that is important to lose weight; exercise is also a needed element for any weight loss plan. To achieve steady weight loss, both diet and exercise are key. It is a good idea to become involved in activities that give you a workout but are also enjoyable. When you find it too hard to get started when you work out, try to find someone to take walks with. Turn your exercise routine into a family affair, whether it's a jog through a park or a scenic bike ride. You won't even think about the fact that you're exercising!
Take some time to eliminate all unhealthy junk foods from your house. Remove all unhealthy choices and you will not give into temptation. The more difficult it is for you to eat junk food, the less likely you are to eat it.
When aiming to drop weight, you must have a solid support system. Support from family and friends can make all the difference. Having a support group, or even just one trusted ally, that you can call on during trying times, can help tremendously.
