Losing weight and keeping it off can seem like an unattainable goal. Good intentions aren't always enough to overcome the frustration of those sore muscles from your first workouts. What are the obstacles preventing you from losing weight?
It is important to remind yourself why you started to work out in the first place. Do you want to lose 50 pounds or more, or are you just looking to trim up a bit? Are you wanting to increase your strength and endurance? What are your weight loss goals?
The weight you lose weekly should be charted. Write your weight in a journal so you can keep track of it. In the same diary, list the foods that you eat on a daily basis. Make yourself accountable for what you eat each day by jotting down the foods you eat. When you know you'll have to write it down, you won't be as interested in having that snack.
Never allow yourself to get too hungry! If you starve yourself, you may give into temptation. Schedule your meals and menus in advance, and have snacks on hand to eat when you're hungry. Whenever you can you, should take you lunch with you from home. By doing this, you will save yourself some money and you won't be tempted to make the wrong choice when it comes to what you eat.
It is not enough just to have a good diet when you want to lose weight effectively. A healthy lifestyle requires both healthy eating and regular exercise. Seek out exercise activities that interest you because this will make it easier to stay motivated. Activities should focus on both making you feel healthy as well as involving you in vigorous exercise. Bring a friend to an interesting class or be alert for the chance to make a new friend.
Ditch the junk food if you want to avoid it. If you can't see it then you won't crave it so often, so tuck it out of sight, or, better yet, leave it in the grocery store where it belongs! Surrounding yourself with healthier food will encourage you to eat more of it.
Weight loss programs are more likely to be adhered to when you have a support network of family or friends cheering you on. A collection of friends you can call on for inspiration will be invaluable. Your friends and family can motivate you when you are ready to quit. Turn to your friends for moral support when you want to open that bag of potato chips! Wouldn't you do the same if your friends asked?
