It can be difficult to stick to a weight loss plan. It may seem easy to begin with, when our goals don't seem so far away. After some time, even if you have been successful, it can be more and more difficult to stay motivated. This is not something that occurs with everyone. People can get the weight loss they want, and keep it off. How is it accomplished?
The first thing you need to do when thinking about weight loss is figure out what your goals are. Can you visualize a certain number that you would like to see on the scale? Do you want to lose a lot of weight, or just wear your current clothes more comfortably? Are you looking to increase your endurance our are looking to improve your physical appearance?
Record your progress at least once a week. Be sure to weigh yourself weekly and create a journal. Within the journal, create a food log to keep track of all the food you eat each day. Writing down what you put into your body will make you more aware of your choices, inspiring you to make healthier decisions.
When you let yourself go too long without eating, you will naturally crave foods that are high in calories and fat. This is a primal instinct that is hard to eliminate. Avoid being faced with poor choices unexpectedly by planning your meals and snacks for each day and packing them to take along wherever you go. Rather than eat lunch in a restaurant, pack your own. Homemade food usually has fewer calories and less fat than what you would eat at a fast food joint or restaurant.
The most effective way to lose weight is to combine a healthy diet with increased physical activity. Try to exercise 3 or 4 times a week, but be sure to allow a few days a week for your body to rest. Make exercise fun if you are bored with it. If you are a fan of dancing, taking a class is a great way to workout while still having fun.
Many know of it, but not many actually follow it. Remove any trace of fatty foods, sugary treats and high calorie snacks from your cupboards and fridge. If the food is not there when you get hungry, you will not eat it. Instead of junk food, fill your refrigerator with healthy food, such as fruits and vegetables. Don't just strive to make it difficult to choose unhealthy alternatives. Strive to make it impossible, at least not without having to make a special trip to the store. Before long, you'll start to enjoy your new healthy snacks, and won't even miss the old ones.
It is important to have supportive people around, maybe even a weight loss partner if possible when trying to lose weight. The encouragement that your support partners provide will help to lift you up and push you farther than you could possibly go on your own. Call on a friend when you need some motivation and it will help you reach your goals.
