Maintaining commitment to a weight loss strategy is a challenge for many. At the beginning, everything seems so easy to stick to, with both ambition and commitment running high. At some point, though, your energy drops, and you are not motivated to continue. This drop-off is not a sure thing for everyone, though. There are many people who lose the weight and keep the weight off. What is their secret to this success?
Set your weight loss goals before you do anything else! Do you want to just get more fit, or do you need to drop a lot of weight? Is there a particular weight you have in mind? Do you want a stronger body that has more endurance and energy?
Make sure to track your weight loss progress weekly. Have a diary in which you can compare your weight each week. Record what you eat in the same book. In order to remember your daily intake, write down what you consume. You won't want it as much once you have written it down and you see it in black and white.
Do not wait until hunger strikes before you make decisions about food. Being hungry while making food choices can be counterproductive. However, if you are in a situation where you have to make food choices while you are hungry, try to make good choices. Preparing meals ahead of time will keep you in focus throughout your hunger strikes. Try to pack your lunch rather than dining out. Not only does it help you shed pounds, it also saves you money, which is something everyone wants!
In order to lose weight you should follow a healthy diet along with exercise. Find the workout that you enjoy doing the most, and do it at least 3 times a week. Try doing things that you like to do when exercising becomes tiring. Use any opportunity to go on a walk. If dancing is your passion, consider joining a ballroom dancing class which can let try your hand at dances like the foxtrot. If you like hiking, you can go explore several trails near you.
Keeping junk food away makes it easier to avoid eating it. If at all possible, eliminate junk food from your home. Surrounding yourself with healthier food will encourage you to eat more of it.
Get friends in on the action. They are happy to help you! Why else would they have volunteered? If you are around people who are positive about your goals, you are more likely to succeed. This can give you what you need to keep going. If you feel down or unmotivated, reach out to your friends for support.
