It is sometimes easy to forget what you are losing the weight for. It may have started out easily, but over time, you may have lost interest or feel you failed at one point or another. How can you have some of the passion and persistence that others seem to have rub off on you? How are these people able to obtain and keep success?
Setting goals and understanding your motivations will help you stick to your routine. Do you want to lose a great amount of weight, or are you simply trying to get a trimmer body? Are you wanting to increase your strength and endurance? What is your ideal end result?
It's important to keep track of your progress every week. Write things down in a journal and make sure you weigh in at least once a week. Keep a food log in the journal of everything you consume each day. This way you can see what you are eating, both good and bad, which may result in your making healthier choices.
Making decisions about what to eat while you are hungry is not a wise choice. To avert disaster, plan your meals ahead of time. A menu is a wonderful idea, because it lets everyone in the family know what they are having to eat each night. Bringing your own lunch from home will help you save money and eat healthier.
The most effective way to get weight off is to eat healthy and work out on a regular basis. Try to exercise 3 or 4 times a week, but be sure to allow a few days a week for your body to rest. Do not let boredom get a hold of you, take every opportunity to make having fun your primary goal. If you are a fan of dancing, taking a class is a great way to workout while still having fun.
If you want to avoid eating junk food, just don't have any at home. Get it out of your kitchen so you can't eat it. Put healthy food in there instead, so that you can snack on that when the cravings strike. Green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, and granola are all healthy snacks. If you have certain foods that you always seem to overindulge in then you need to avoid buying those. By making these types of food extremely inconvenient to snack on the less chance you have of breaking down and eating them.
Make exercise a friendly affair, and ask a buddy to join you. When you have only yourself to rely on, you may slack off if you don't feel motivated or quit early because you have no one to encourage you. A great way to stay motivated when you are working out is to have a buddy do the exercise routine with you. By encouraging one another, you'll increase both of your chances for success.
