Losing weight can be difficult and seem almost impossible at times. At the beginning of a weight loss journey it is easy to be enthusiastic, but after a few days or weeks you can lose motivation. How are people able to keep the weight off? What do they know about weight loss that you don't?
Creating a weight loss plan is the first step on your journey. Is your primary goal to fit into a specific clothing size? Have you identified your weight loss goals? is getting in shape and having much more energy important to you?
Keeping weekly records of your weight-loss progress is a useful tool that keeps you aware. Keep a daily diary of your food and beverage consumption. Be sure to weigh yourself just once a week, on the same day, preferably in the morning. Writing all your choices down will help you make better decisions.
Don't wait until your stomach is rumbling before making a decision about what you will put into it. An empty stomach is a surefire way to make bad choices when it comes to deciding what to eat. Try preparing your meals prior to being hungry and keeping healthy snacks around to avoid temptations. Rather than choosing restaurants, make the effort to pack your own lunch. Eating in is a fabulous way to shed weight and save your hard earned cash.
The two staples of any weight loss plan are diet and exercise. Find exercise that you like and do it regularly. If you are having difficulty exercising consistently, consider what it is that you like to do, and turn that into a workout. Go for a walk with your friends when you hang out. If you have an interest in dancing, take a dance class. Try searching for new trails to hike on if you like hiking.
Most are aware of it, but not many will take action. Have a cleaning party - invite your friends over to help you get rid of the junk food in your fridge and pantry by taking it home with them. When these snacks are not in your pantry, you cannot just automatically and mindlessly reach for them when you are hungry. Be sure to fill the void with healthful choices such as yogurt, fruits & veggies, nuts, whole grains, and other nourishing foods. When unhealthy food choices aren't staring you in the face, it's easy to avoid thinking about them.
Ask your friends if they will be your support system. They can provide you with motivation, support, encouragement and advice. Accountability is important in any long-term weight loss plan, and when you involve a friend or family member, you are more likely to succeed. If it's encouragement you need, call a friend. They will be able to get you through the tough times by offering you a supportive shoulder.
