Losing weight can seem like a far away dream. Over time we tend to lose interest and the momentum that we had when we started. Why isn't that something that happens to everybody? Some people are successful at dropping the pounds and maintaining their lean figure. How does someone lose weight and manage to keep it off?
It is essential that you know your purposes for working out before setting up a plan. You need to figure out if you just want to lose a few pounds, or if you are planning to see significant changes in both weight and size. Are you wanting to increase your strength and endurance? What do you want to accomplish?
Each week, you should chart your progress, so you know if you are improving. Create a journal and check your weight weekly. Add a food diary to your journal, and be sure to list your food intake throughout each day. You will be more aware of what you are eating since you will be keeping track of it, and this will lead to you making better food selections.
Eat small amounts of healthy food frequently to avoid becoming overly hungry and grabbing anything at hand. Save money and avoid temptation by planning out your meals and bringing them with you before you leave the house. Prepare lunch in advance rather than eating junk food on the go. When you make your own lunch, you can control fat and calorie content, which is often high in restaurant meals. In addition, you can also save money!
The two staples of any weight loss plan are diet and exercise. Find a workout you find enjoyable, and perform your workout at 3-4 days each week. If you find yourself having trouble getting enough exercise, you should think of a way to incorporate exercise into the things you enjoy doing. Invite your friends out for a walk in the park as opposed to eating out with them. You should consider taking a dance class if you enjoy dancing. Use a variety of trails and explore new terrain if you enjoy hiking.
Obviously, if you have no junk food in your cupboards, you will be far less likely to eat it. Instead of junk food, fill your kitchen with healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables and granola. Stop buying the bad stuff. Don't buy junk food in the first place, so you won't crave it.
Share your weight loss goals with friends and family. They can act as your support system and provide you with advice, encouragement and inspiration when you need it most, helping you stay on the path to achieving your weight loss goals. When you get together with friends you will feel more motivated.
