Sometimes it can seem like it's impossible to reach your weight loss goals. Even if at first you are motivated and excited about losing weight, pitfalls along the way can leave you feeling discouraged, frustrated and ready to give up on your goals. What are the methods others have used to meet their objectives and maintain their results? Which methods do they use to accomplish this?
Start you weight loss plan by deciding what your goals are. Are you trying to tone up and firm up, or do you need to shed a significant number of pounds first? Is there a target weight? Maybe you just want to be stronger and have more stamina.
Record your progress at least once a week. It's a good idea to keep a journal and to weigh yourself at least once per week. Add a food diary to your journal, and be sure to list your food intake throughout each day. Writing down what you put into your body will make you more aware of your choices, inspiring you to make healthier decisions.
Allowing yourself to go hungry is a recipe for weight loss sabotage! It is hard to control what you are eating when you are really hungry. Decide what you are going to eat in advance and keep snacks with you at all times. If it is possible, pack your lunch for each day. It only takes five minutes to get a healthy midday meal together and it can even be done the night before. You can save your hard-earned cash while making good nutritional choices.
Eating healthy foods is not the only thing that is important to lose weight; exercise is also a needed element for any weight loss plan. If you find ways to incorporate fun into your exercise and diet routines, you will find that your weight loss will be steadier. Finding a friend to take walks with is a great motivator to work out. Get your family out and about and stay active with bike rides and hikes in the woods. Before you know it, you will have put in a good workout without ever having to call it exercise!
You might realize this, but it's worth saying: if you don't have any junk food in the house, you won't be tempted to eat it. Keep your house full of delicious, low-calorie treats, such as trail mix, fruits and vegetables, and nuts. Do not purchase unhealthy foods! It's much easier to avoid temptation if you keep the foods you shouldn't eat out of your house.
Ask your friends if they will help you throughout your weight loss process. While it remains up to you to keep up your motivation and plan for weight loss, other people can be a great support. Turning to others during minor setbacks or when you feel like quitting is a strength and can help you stick with your goals. When you're seeking an extra source of motivation, look towards your friends for moral support.
