Sometimes we think achieving lasting weight loss isn't in the cards for us. One of the hardest things to do is to get started. The next hardest thing to do is to do it again. What are the obstacles preventing you from losing weight?
First, identify your weight loss goals. Decide if you are trying to build muscle or just lose weight. Do you want to be a specific weight? Or do you want to increase your energy and endurance by having a more healthy body?
Each day there are things you can do to keep track of your weight loss. Keep track of how much weight you lose every week. Keeping track of everything you put into your body will help you to select things to eat that will keep you on track with your weight loss plan.
Allowing yourself to go hungry is a recipe for weight loss sabotage! If you allow yourself to get too hungry, it is hard to keep self-control. Plan your meals and snacks for each day, and keep healthy food handy for sudden attacks of hunger. If it is possible, pack your lunch for each day. It only takes five minutes to get a healthy midday meal together and it can even be done the night before. That way you can realize substantial financial savings and reduce the likelihood of binging on unhealthy foods.
If you are serious in your weight loss goals, then you need to concentrate on both your diet and activity level. To maintain your motivation level, you need to select physical activities that you enjoy doing as part of your exercise plan. There are many activities that you can choose from, such as dance classes, joining a sports league, talking walks with friends or joining a running club. Make sure you are creative with your exercise endeavors.
Throw away any unhealthy food that is found in your cupboards. Remember, you will not be able to eat food which isn't present, so keeping your kitchen cupboards stocked with only healthy foods can help you to keep your body fit and lean. This will make it difficult to have the foods that are bad for you within easy access, which means you will not eat as much of them.
Get a friend to workout with. If we are on our own, we often make excuses to relieve ourselves of more difficult responsibilities. You will be able to motivate each other. A friend can provide motivational support, suggestions or tips to help you lose weight.
