Your path to successful weight loss may become clouded. Like many, you may have had a lot of motivation right at the beginning, but found your determination flagging after a bit. This is the time frame that separates the men from the boys (so to speak). How can you internalize the motivation needed to push on that you see in others? How are they achieving these great results and maintaining their fitness?
The first step is to set your weight loss goals. Do you just want to lose a little bit of weight to fit more comfortably in your clothes, or do you want to lose more so you drop a few sizes? Is there a goal you have for losing weight? Is it important for you to be in shape and have more energy?
Having to stare your progress (or lack thereof) in the face is one way to keep yourself on track. You should keep a journal of all the food you eat. Review your journal entries before you go to sleep to make sure you are staying on track with your caloric goals. You should also use the journal to record how much weight you have lost or gained each week. Tracking your progress with charts gives you a very clear idea of how far you have come.
If you reach a level of hunger that feels like starvation, there's a pretty good chance that you will choose the wrong food to eat. When you're out, you need to pack some healthy foods to take with you to avoid this trouble. Packing your own lunch is better for you than eating out. Bringing your own lunch will help you resist cravings and give you better control over the calories you eat. When you pack snacks or lunch, you protect both your wallet and your waistline.
Eating healthy and exercising regularly are a big part of the best weight loss plans. Set aside time to exercise, which is great for increasing your energy. Finding exercise activities that you have fun doing can be a great way to do this if you find yourself struggling to stick to a standard exercise plan. Go for a walk with some friends, or head out to a dance club.
While this may be apparent, avoiding having junk food around will help you refrain from eating it. Keep healthy foods on hands in your kitchen instead. Choose things like fresh fruits and vegetables, hummes and granola. You know what you shouldn't be eating, so stop buying it. Challenge yourself not to purchase tempting foods in the first place.
Be sure to tell your friends and family all about your choice to lose weight. Loved ones are the best inspiration you can ask for. At times when you feel like you cannot continue on your weight loss plan anymore, seek help from your supporters so they can help you get back on track again.
