Maintaining commitment to a weight loss strategy is a challenge for many. In the beginning, we are optimistic about realizing our goals, and achieving them seems easy. At some point, though, your energy drops, and you are not motivated to continue. This drop-off is not a sure thing for everyone, though. There are many people who lose the weight and keep the weight off. How is it accomplished?
The first step in weight loss is to set out clear aims. Have you set a goal of how much weight you want to shed? What about clothes? Would you like to go down a size or two, or maybe fit into your current wardrobe better? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
Keep and ongoing record of your weight loss progress. Only record your weight one time per week. Doing so too often will make you anxious. You should keep track of all of the foods you consume and their calorie count in a food diary. Make sure you write in all your beverages and snacks as well. This can sometimes keep you from making bad decisions when choosing what you are going to eat and drink.
Keep healthy snacks with you in case you get hungry during the day to prevent yourself from slipping up. Those fast food restaurants will be awfully tempting if you aren't prepared with alternatives! Plan your meals a week in advance, and always bring a bag lunch to work. This will also save you money.
The weight loss systems with the highest success rates focus on both diet and exercise. You have to take the time for physical activities that you actually want to do. If you are having trouble including exercise in your normal schedule, try to focus on having fun, rather than doing a workout. Find an activity that you enjoy and make time to do that. Do you enjoy spending time with your friends? Go with them on a bike riding adventure. Do you enjoy just forgetting about your worries and enjoying yourself? Learn some new moves in a dance class. Do you escape life by going out into nature? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
If your pantries are not filled with bad food choices, you can't consume them. Keep your kitchen full of food that is healthy. You know what you shouldn't be eating, so stop buying it. In order to avoid eating junk food, do not even buy it.
Get help from your friends. Your true friends will be glad to answer. You can greatly increase the chances of success if you keep the company of highly motivated and positive people. Your friends can be there to motivate you when you really need it. When your motivation is low, then reach out for support to help you get back on track.
