Weight loss goals may seem impossible because they are so far out of reach. It's easy to start out with lots of energy and lofty ambition, but the day-to-day challenges of reaching a distant goal may wear down that energy. Why isn't it the same for everybody? Some people lose weight and keep it off. What's their secret?
Your first major step towards weight loss is to know what success looks like. Specifically, what are your goals, and how will you know you have reached them? Why do you want to lose weight, what do you hope to accomplish? Would you be happier if you were able to wear smaller clothes? Is there a number you hope to see next time you weigh in? Is a healthy body your goal?
Write everything down to keep track of how you are doing. Avoid being a slave to the scale and weigh yourself just once or twice a week. If you do this more than once a week, you will be overly anxious. Keep a ledger that lists all the food you eat, along with the amount of calories consumed. This should include any snacks and beverages. This can sometimes keep you from making bad decisions when choosing what you are going to eat and drink.
Never allow yourself to get too hungry! At this first sign of a hunger pang, you are putting your diet in danger. Plan your meals in advance. Bring snacks with you, too. Whenever you can you, should take you lunch with you from home. That way you can realize substantial financial savings and reduce the likelihood of binging on unhealthy foods.
A weight loss plan that incorporates both diet and exercise is best. Schedule fun work out activities a few times every week. If you just can't seem to find the time to workout, try incorporating exercise into more enjoyable activities. Do you enjoy spending time with your friends? Play some basketball with them! Are you focused on having a good time? Dance classes may be the way to go. Are you happiest when you are basking in the glories of nature? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
The less junk food you have laying around, the less likely you will be to eat it. By filling your house with healthy food options, which include vegetables, fruits, and granola bars, you will prevent any bad choices. Avoid temptation by making sure only healthy, nutritious foods enter your house.
Having other people around you that can help support you, and help keep you motivated, is a valuable asset when it comes to losing weight. Your support network can help you push forward when you feel like quitting. Ask others for help reaching your weight loss goals when you need it.
