Sometimes it seems like weight loss is beyond what we think we can do. After a few weeks of dieting, your motivation may fade and it can be tempting to quit. How can some people keep off the weight after meeting their weight loss goals? What do they know about weight loss that you don't?
Your first major step towards weight loss is to know what success looks like. Specifically, what are your goals, and how will you know you have reached them? What results would you like to see from your weight loss? Do you want to run a marathon, or maybe just some charity running events? How much weight do you want to lose? Is your goal just to be healthier?
It's important to log your weight loss each and every week. Ideally, you should weigh yourself on a weekly basis, and record your food and drink intake on a daily basis. Keeping a daily journal of the foods and beverages you ingest helps you to see what what seems to be working and what doesn't, allowing you to make informed choices about your diet.
When you ignore your hunger you set yourself up to make bad choices about which foods to eat. Don't wait until you are very hungry to eat, because you will be more likely to make unhealthy choices. Make sure you plan out your meals and snacks ahead of time. Bring some of those snacks with you wherever you go. Prepare your meals at home starting now. It's a good choice for not only your body, but also your bank account.
To be successful in your weight-loss plan, you need to eat right and exercise regularly. To ensure that you get enough exercise, plan to work out at least a few times a week. If it is difficult to fit a gym routine into your workweek, try doing fun activities with your family and friends. Try going for a walk or throwing the old pigskin. All of these activities benefit your cardiovascular system, leading to a healthier body.
Most people have heard about doing this, yet few people actually follow through with it. Get rid of the high-calorie snacks in your home. If your cupboards are clean of tempting foods, then you are much more likely to reach for any healthy snacks you have on hand. Always have plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy snacks on hand. Try to remove negative options from your life: you can't eat what you don't have.
Workout with someone you know. In many cases, if there is nobody to keep us accountable, we tend to slack off and neglect what is best for us. Having someone to exercise with will give you the motivation you need to continue on. By encouraging one another, you'll increase both of your chances for success.
