At times, it is hard to stay motivated. Even though your weight loss goals started easily, you will likely notice your motivation decline as time goes on. How can you internalize the motivation needed to push on that you see in others? What is their key to achieving lasting results?
It is essential that you know your purposes for working out before setting up a plan. Do you want to drop a large amount of weight, or are you just looking to slim down? Are you hoping to gain energy by exercising regularly? Where do you see yourself at the end of your workout plan?
Set a goal to keep track of your progress every week. Check your weight weekly, and maintain a food journal. Recording our decisions makes us more conscious of those decisions.
You know what your food needs are, so it's important to plan ahead for the coming day. Decide what you are going to eat before you get hungry. Be ready for the day! Take some healthy things to eat or pack your lunch when you go to work or leave the house. Think of all the extra money you will have to spend on other things by skipping restaurant meals. Correct menu planning and the construction of a comprehensive weight loss regimen is key to effective and lasting weight loss.
A truly great weight loss plan will focus on both diet and exercise. You have to take the time for physical activities that you actually want to do. If you are having trouble including exercise in your normal schedule, try to focus on having fun, rather than doing a workout. Find an activity that you enjoy and make time to do that. Is spending time with your buddies important? Take them on in a game of basketball. Is letting your hair down something that you enjoy doing? Learn some new moves in a dance class. Do you love nature? Put on your hiking boots and enjoy nature while walking toward fitness.
This is a common piece of advice, but few people actually follow it. Get rid of all the unhealthy snacks and junk food in the kitchen! You will not be able to go grab those unhealthy foods if they are not there. Have healthy alternatives at hand instead, such as fruit, vegetables and yogurt. Don't just strive to make it difficult to choose unhealthy alternatives. Strive to make it impossible, at least not without having to make a special trip to the store. Before long, you'll start to enjoy your new healthy snacks, and won't even miss the old ones.
Let your friends and family know that you have long term weight loss goals. They can support you when you need inspiration in reaching your weight loss goals. Tell them to firmly nudge you to get going again whenever you feel like you may stop.
