It can seem like it takes forever to get the weight off. People start out with incredible zeal, which quickly peters out and turns into inactivity. How is it that some people don't have this problem? Some people lose weight and keep it off. What do they do that is different?
To begin with, you should determine your weight loss goals. Do you want to slide back into an old pair of jeans, or get fitter than you've ever been before? Is there a particular goal you would like to attain with your weight loss plan? What is it that is really important to you about losing weight?
Keep and ongoing record of your weight loss progress. Don't get on the scale more than one time a week. If you weigh yourself too often, it can be a detriment to your self-esteem. Have a food diary that you can write in to keep count of your calorie and overall food intake. Write about the things you drink and include snacks as well. Jotting down everything we eat and drink can prevent us from making bad choices.
When you let yourself go too long without eating, you will naturally crave foods that are high in calories and fat. This is a primal instinct that is hard to eliminate. Save money and avoid temptation by planning out your meals and bringing them with you before you leave the house. Pack your lunch based off of your plan, instead of dining out. You will save lots of money and get a better quality of food. The food you prepare for yourself will have far less fat, sodium and calories than anything you could buy at a restaurant or fast food eatery.
It is very important to eat healthy and exercise. You must exercise a minimum of three days each week, but more is even better! You should plan to do something you enjoy so this does not seem like such a challenge to you. If you like having long conversations with your friends, you can go with them for a walk. Enjoy your workout in nature if you can. Hiking trails and bike paths offer some great outdoor space for working out by walking, biking, inline skating or even skateboarding. Sign up for a class and learn a new high-energy style if you enjoy dancing.
If you only have healthy foods at home then that is what you can expect to eat. Keep your house full of delicious, low-calorie treats, such as trail mix, fruits and vegetables, and nuts. Quit stocking up your kitchen with food that is bad for you. If you don't purchase any junk food, you will be far less likely to be tempted. Surely you would rather reach for an apple as a late night snack than put on your shoes, drive to the store and buy some chips!
Support from family, friends or online can be a fantastic way to keep up with your weight loss goals. Have your friends give you support and encouragement. When you feel ready to give up, they will buck you up and give you the courage and motivation to continue. Your friends can help you stay motivated when you do not feel like doing your routine. You would do the same for your friends.
