It can seem impossible to reach your weight loss goals. We start with all the enthusiasm and motivation in the world, and then get discouraged when we feel the soreness from our first workout. What can you do to make sure you're a success?
The first thing you need to do when thinking about weight loss is figure out what your goals are. Do you have an idea of how much weight you would like to lose? Is it your goal to slide into a new pair of jeans that are several sizes smaller, or just feel more svelte in the clothes you already wear? Is your goal to be in better shape or gain energy?
Keep track of your progress on a weekly basis. Be sure to weigh yourself weekly and create a journal. Keep a food log in the journal of everything you consume each day. When you write down everything you consume, you will be much more aware of what you are eating, causing you to make better choices.
If you let yourself get hungry, you will begin to think with your tummy rather than your head. In order to avoid this from occurring, prepare some healthy food options to take with you when you go out. You can avoid eating out by packing your own lunch. When you bring your lunch, you have complete control over your calorie consumption. Additionally, you will avoid the temptations you might face in a restaurant. Because packing your own food is usually cheaper than eating out, you will be pleased by the money that you are saving as well as the benefits to your figure.
A big part of successful weight loss is combining healthy eating with consistent exercise. You must exercise a minimum of three days each week, but more is even better! If working out this often is difficult for you to do, then you must ensure you do exercises that you love. If you like having long conversations with your friends, you can go with them for a walk. Enjoy your workout in nature if you can. Hiking trails and bike paths offer some great outdoor space for working out by walking, biking, inline skating or even skateboarding. Sign up for a class and learn a new high-energy style if you enjoy dancing.
Keeping junk food away makes it easier to avoid eating it. You could hide your junk food, but you would probably be better of not buying it at all. You have a greater chance of eating food that is good for you if you keep healthy food around you at all times.
Do you have a friend that wants to lose weight too? If so, set up goals together and be there to encourage each other when the other is lacking in motivation. The encouragement that your support partners provide will help to lift you up and push you farther than you could possibly go on your own. Ask others for help reaching your weight loss goals when you need it.
