You need to plan to keep focused over the length of your weight loss regimen. It may have been easy to start the process, but it can get discouraging quickly or something else in your life may come up that seems more important. How can you have some of the passion and persistence that others seem to have rub off on you? What are they doing to stay on top of things?
You should first determine what your weight loss goals are. Do you want to fit back into your favorite outfit? Do you have a weight in mind which you would like to achieve? Are you interested in overall fitness and health?
List your weight loss progress on a weekly basis. Keep a diet journal so that you can make a note of your weight loss. Use this book to keep track of the food you eat. By jotting down your food intake on a daily basis, you are more likely to stick with the program because you are holding yourself responsible. Knowing that you have to write down bad choices will make you less likely to actually choose them.
Allowing yourself to go hungry is a recipe for weight loss sabotage! At this first sign of a hunger pang, you are putting your diet in danger. Plan your meals and snacks for each day, and keep healthy food handy for sudden attacks of hunger. Bring your lunch with you whenever you get the chance. You will cut back on costs and lessen the chance you will make a bad decision when it comes to what you are going to eat.
The two staples of any weight loss plan are diet and exercise. Try to find a workout that you enjoy, and do it several times each week. If you don't like the idea of exercise for the sake of it, then integrate workouts into activities you actually like to do. For those times when you get together with friends, plan a neighborhood stroll. If you have an interest in dancing, take a dance class. Use a variety of trails and explore new terrain if you enjoy hiking.
Obviously, if you have no junk food in your cupboards, you will be far less likely to eat it. Make sure that you only have healthy foods in your kitchen. These include foods like fresh produce, nuts and foods made with whole grain. If you don't make unhealthy food an option, it will be easier to eat healthier meals. Challenge yourself not to purchase tempting foods in the first place.
Be certain to tell your friends and family about your plans to lose weight. By having their support and inspiration, you are more likely to succeed in your goals. Your loved ones can be a great source of inspiration. Look to them for a lift on those days when things aren't going quite right.
