Lasting weight loss can sometimes seem unattainable. One of the hardest things to do is to get started. The next hardest thing to do is to do it again. What are the obstacles preventing you from losing weight?
Before you go somewhere, you need to know where you are going. The same is true for your weight loss journey. Do you just want a smaller version of you, or are you looking for a dramatic difference in size? Are you hoping that regularly workouts will give you more energy? What is your end goal?
Actually putting your goals in writing can really help you stay motivated to adhere to your plan. You should try writing down everything you eat in a diary. Review your journal entries before you go to sleep to make sure you are staying on track with your caloric goals. Use that same journal to keep track of your weight from week to week. Graphs help motivate because they give you a visual of what is happening to your body.
When you are hungry, it will be easy to make food choices that are not in your best interest. The focus is not on finding the healthiest options - you simply want to eat something immediately. Schedule the times you eat and carry healthy snacks with you in case you get hungry. Take your own food with you to avoid eating out. Making this change will reduce the calories you take in and also your food costs.
A truly great weight loss plan will focus on both diet and exercise. Clear your schedule for a few hours a week to enjoy some fun workouts. If you just can't seem to find the time to workout, try incorporating exercise into more enjoyable activities. How about spending time with your male friends? Shoot some hoops with them! Are you focused on having a good time? Try taking salsa lessons! Do you escape life by going out into nature? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
If you want to stay away from junk foodm don't allow it in the house! If the food is not there, you can't eat it. Switch out the junk food for healthy foods. Eating healthy snacks such as granola bars or fruits and vegetables will help you avoid unhealthy junk food. Do not buy any junk food that you might overindulge in. By making these types of food extremely inconvenient to snack on the less chance you have of breaking down and eating them.
You should have a support system made up of good friends and family. They might not be able to lose the weight for you, but their unconditional support is the next best thing. Having someone to report to makes it more likely you stay committed to your goals when they seem too hard to reach. When you need a little pep talk, pick up the phone and talk to a friend. Just hearing their voice should be a reminder of how important it is for you to succeed!
