It's difficult to stay focused on the reasons you're working to lose weight. It may have been easy to start the process, but it can get discouraging quickly or something else in your life may come up that seems more important. How can you internalize the motivation needed to push on that you see in others? How are they achieving these great results and maintaining their fitness?
When you want to lose weight, the first step is always to decide what your specific goals are. Have you set a goal of how much weight you want to shed? What about clothes? Would you like to go down a size or two, or maybe fit into your current wardrobe better? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
Write everything down to keep track of how you are doing. Only weigh yourself one time weekly. Doing so too often will make you anxious. You should keep track of all of the foods you consume and their calorie count in a food diary. Write about the things you drink and include snacks as well. Writing down what you consume can sometimes stop you from making poor diet decisions.
When you become too hungry, you get irrational in your food choices. Stay away from this trap. Decide ahead of time what you will eat for meals and snacks. When you are going to be out of your home, take your snacks with you. Start bringing your lunches from home. This will save you money, and save your diet.
A healthy weight loss plan requires both modest exercise and a nutritional diet. To achieve steady weight loss, both diet and exercise are key. It is a good idea to become involved in activities that give you a workout but are also enjoyable. Get a friend to exercise with you if you don't have the willpower to exercise on your own. Get your family out and about and stay active with bike rides and hikes in the woods. You won't even be aware that you are getting exercise!
Most are aware of it, but not many will take action. Simply throw all of your junk food and unhealthy snacks away. If they are out of sight, they are out of mind. Put healthier foods such as fruits, vegetables and low-calorie alternatives in place where you used to have junk food. If you do not have access to junk foods, you will make better choices.
Deciding to lose weight is your own personal challenge. However, asking your friends and family to be there for you if you need support will make your journey less stressful and more enjoyable. Weight loss is a hard thing to do, and you will be able to stay on track if you have support, especially when you feel discouraged or unmotivated. When you want to quit and feel unmotivated you can always talk with a person who is always there for you to keep you going.
