It can be easy to forget why you are trying to lose weight. Your motivation and your interest may falter the longer you get into your weight loss journey. It was easy to start but it may seem hard to keep going. How can you have some of the passion and persistence that others seem to have rub off on you? What is their key to achieving lasting results?
Before you start losing weight, you need to draw up a fitness plan and identify your goals. Would you enjoy feeling great in your clothes again or, better yet, shopping for new clothes that are several sizes smaller then your current size? Have you already decided on a weight you'd like to reach? Make it your goal to get in better shape and have more energy on a regular basis.
Seeing your weight loss progress written down may be the motivator you need to stay on track. Keep a diary off all the food you eat each month. Before you go to bed each night, calculate your calories for the day to ensure that you are not taking in more than your recommended daily total. The journal can also be used to keep track of your weight week by week. Try using graphs to visually represent your progress and help motivate you in your journal.
Letting yourself get to the point where you are unbearably hungry is a bad thing! If you starve yourself, you may give into temptation. Decide what you will eat ahead of time, and keep sensible snack foods on hand at all times. Bring your lunch with you whenever you get the chance. By packing a lunch, you are saving money and avoiding potentially bad choices while at work or school.
To be successful in any weight loss plan you must incorporate both a healthy diet and a good exercise routine. Choosing a workout that you find engaging will make it easier to achieve the combination of diet and exercise that results in steady weight loss. When you find it too hard to get started when you work out, try to find someone to take walks with. Have your family join you for some exercise. You'll be working out without even trying!
If you want to avoid the junk food, simply don't make it available. Hide the junk food from yourself. Once you fill your life with healthy food, you will find yourself eating it on a daily basis.
If you have a strong support system, or someone to work out with you, it can increase the likelihood that you will succeed in your goal. When you are having a bad day, turning to others for support is a real pick me up. Do not be afraid to ask for emotional support from others. You will need it to help keep you on track and reach your weight loss goals.
