It is sometimes easy to forget what you are losing the weight for. It may have started out easily, but over time, you may have lost interest or feel you failed at one point or another. What can you do to make yourself as motivated as others you see around you? How do they lose weight and keep it off?
Initially, plan exactly what you hope to achieve with your weight loss regimen. Maybe you just want to fit back into the clothes you were wearing last year? Is there a specific weight you are trying to obtain? Is your goal to simply get in shape and live a healthier life?
It should be a goal for you to keep track of your progress every day to see your weight loss improvement. Check your weight every week, and keep a journal of what you eat. Keeping a daily journal of the foods and beverages you ingest helps you to see what what seems to be working and what doesn't, allowing you to make informed choices about your diet.
Hunger can effect your brain in strange ways. When you are feeling hunger pangs, it is better to have snacks you have packed rather than risk eating something unhealthy when you are out and about. Those fast food restaurants will be awfully tempting if you aren't prepared with alternatives! Determine your menus ahead of time, and take brown bag lunches each day. That way, you will save money too.
In order to be successful in losing weight, you need to have a plan that combines both exercise and healthy eating. To ensure that you get enough exercise, plan to work out at least a few times a week. When you are finding it hard to stay motivated during the work week you should look for something that you like. Go jogging with a friend, take the family along for a hike, or enjoy a peaceful bike ride by yourself. You will be on track to better health if you get your blood pumping.
While this may be apparent, avoiding having junk food around will help you refrain from eating it. Instead of junk food, fill your kitchen with healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables and granola. Don't buy food you shouldn't eat. Do not buy junk food in the first place.
Find a workout buddy. Holding yourself accountable for your workout can be difficult, just as it is easy to find reasons not to workout. You will be able to motivate each other. You and your friend can encourage one other as well as give advice when asked.
