Sometimes it seems like weight loss is beyond what we think we can do. You start off feeling extremely pumped about your weight loss goals, but after a few weeks, this excitement wears off. Once this happens, the tendency is to quit. How are people able to keep the weight off? What do they know about weight loss that you don't?
Creating a weight loss plan is the first step on your journey. Is your primary goal to fit into a specific clothing size? Do you have a target weight you would like to reach? Is being physically fit and improving your energy level important to you?
Every week, be sure to track your weight loss. Use a diary or log to track your weight loss progress each week. Pick out an attractive journal and keep all of your records in it. A great way to see how well your diet is going is to make a food journal of everything you eat throughout the day. The simple task of writing it down can prevent you from making poor choices in foods.
Do not wait until hunger strikes before you make decisions about food. If we try and make healthy food choices when we are hungry, all common sense goes by the wayside. Try preparing your meals prior to being hungry and keeping healthy snacks around to avoid temptations. Don't go out to eat. Pack your meal and bring it with you. It helps you lose weight and cut expenses at the same time. Who doesn't like killing two birds with one stone?
A weight loss plan that incorporates both diet and exercise is best. Schedule fun work out activities a few times every week. Finding the exercises that you enjoy will help you push past those old excuses about not having enough time. Do you enjoy spending time with your friends? Take them on in a game of basketball. Are you focused on having a good time? Try taking salsa lessons! Do you prefer to escape into the world of wildlife and visit areas of outstanding natural beauty? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
Eliminate unhealthy food options from all places that you spend time at. This tactic might feel extreme, but if you analyze it closely, you will come to understand that food which is not available cannot be eaten. Rather, take steps to make your workspace, household or anyplace you are likely to snack, a health food zone. For the times when you must have a snack, be sure to have fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds on hand.
Have your friends give you support any way they can. Even though they can't lose the weight for you, they can offer motivation and assistance to you to help you reach your goal. Being responsible for regularly reporting your progress to someone can prevent you from giving up. Call your friends any time you are in need of a little help. Your friends will be there to offer you support when you need it most.
