Maintaining commitment to a weight loss strategy is a challenge for many. It may seem easy to begin with, when our goals don't seem so far away. After a while, your motivation wanes and you cannot push through in your workouts like you used to be able to do. This is not something that occurs with everyone. There are many people who lose the weight and keep the weight off. How do people accomplish this?
To being with, you need to figure out what your weight loss goals are. Are you going to be concentrating on just making your clothes fit better, or will you be looking for a new wardrobe because you want to drop a few sizes? Is there a target weight for which you are shooting? Is it important to you to be in shape and have extra energy?
Record your progress at least once a week. Keep a regular journal that has records of your weight, preferably measured by the week. List the foods you eat in a daily food diary that is part of your journal. You will be more aware of what you are eating since you will be keeping track of it, and this will lead to you making better food selections.
It's easy to make snap decisions when a lack of food options are available. You will not think about healthy choices, in fact, you are more likely to crave high calorie foods. Avoid this by having snacks on hand and make time for your meals. When you pack your lunch, you do not have the temptation to eat take-out. Making this change will reduce the calories you take in and also your food costs.
The weight loss systems with the highest success rates focus on both diet and exercise. Is important to make sure you enjoy the workouts that you are doing a couple of times a week. If you are having trouble including exercise in your normal schedule, try to focus on having fun, rather than doing a workout. Find an activity that you enjoy and make time to do that. Is spending time with your buddies important? Go with them on a bike riding adventure. Do you enjoy just forgetting about your worries and enjoying yourself? Dance classes may be the way to go. Do you escape life by going out into nature? Hit the hiking trails!
Make sure your home, work-space, and any other area you frequent is free from unhealthy snack items. The simple fact is you cannot eat something that is not there. Make the places where you typically spend time healthy food zones. Have fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts handy for when you feel like snacking.
Use a support network to assist you in your weight loss journey and this will help you to stay motivated. When you are having a bad day, turning to others for support is a real pick me up. Communicate your needs whenever your motivation starts to wane, and you will be better equipped to achieve your objectives.
