Sometimes we think achieving lasting weight loss isn't in the cards for us. One of the hardest things to do is to get started. The next hardest thing to do is to do it again. How are some people able to succeed?
Identifying your goal is the first step in a successful weight loss program. Do you just want to shave off those few extra pounds you gained over the holidays, or do you want to fit into clothing that is a size or two smaller than what you currently wear? Figure out why losing weight is important to you. Know what your weight loss goals are. It can be as specific as a set amount of weight you want to lose, or as general as overall fitness.
Keep records of your weight loss from week to week. Whether you eat something big or small, be sure to document it. Tracking and recording everything you eat makes you more conscious of your food choices. You will feel inspired to continue making healthy choices with food and drink consumption.
Don't let yourself become extremely hungry. This will lead to very poor choices in foods. Do not let this happen to you. Plan your foods, pack them and have them at your side at all times. Make brown bag lunches a new fad at work! Everyone will save money and eat healthier.
Dieting by itself is usually not enough for weight loss. The best way to see speedier results is to get regular exercise in addition to eating well. To help you stay motivated to exercise, find activities you enjoy. Look for physical activities that you enjoy doing. Sign up for classes at the local gym; it is a great way to meet new people.
If the junk food is not there, you can't eat it. Keep healthy foods on hands in your kitchen instead. Choose things like fresh fruits and vegetables, hummes and granola. Avoid purchasing the foods you should not have so it will not be in your cupboards when you are hungry. Make it difficult for you to have the junk food that you want by never purchasing it or bringing it into your home.
Look towards your friends for moral support when you decide to lose weight. You should have support from loved ones to stay motivated when you are not feeling like doing anything and want to quit. These people give you the motivation you need when you feel like giving up.
