There are times when you may feel as if your plan to lose weight is impossible to achieve. You may be pushing hard to begin with, only to lose steam soon afterwards. You may start to ask yourself why certain people can manage this when you can't. You have to marvel at how they manage it!
Initially, plan exactly what you hope to achieve with your weight loss regimen. Is one of your goals to fit into a specific size of attire? Is there an ideal weight that you would like to reach? Are you interested in overall fitness and health?
Keep a record of your progress. Write things down, such as caloric intake, foods you ingest and beverages you choose. Be sure to weigh yourself weekly and create a journal. Within the journal, create a food log to keep track of all the food you eat each day. You will be more aware of what you are eating since you will be keeping track of it, and this will lead to you making better food selections.
If you are hungry, you will tend to choose your foods impulsively. This is because you just want to get food into your body quickly - you don't care whether what you are consuming is healthy. Try keeping snacks with you if you are going to be on the go. You should always plan your mealtime into your schedule to avoid the desire for fast food. When you pack your lunch, you do not have the temptation to eat take-out. Not only will this help you consume less calories, it will also assist you in cutting down your food bill.
It is important to eat healthy and exercise daily. Planning a regular exercise routine each week not only helps you get fit, it also gives you an energy boost. If the thought of a structured exercise regimen is a little daunting, think about an activity that you enjoy and go with that. Activities like dancing, hiking, swimming, and even plain old walking count as exercise too.
Make sure your home, work-space, and any other area you frequent is free from unhealthy snack items. It may seem cruel, but the reality is that if it isn't there, you won't be tempted to eat it. Turn your workplace and your home into healthy food zones. It is good to keep healthy foods like fresh fruit, bite-size vegetables, and a package of your favorite seeds or nuts on hand for when you need to snack.
Get help from your friends. They are there for this reason. If you are surrounded by an encouraging support group then it is easy to stay on track. Good friends push you when you lose motivation. When your motivation is low, then reach out for support to help you get back on track.
