It can be very hard to stay on your weight loss path. Like many, you may have had a lot of motivation right at the beginning, but found your determination flagging after a bit. This is the time frame that separates the men from the boys (so to speak). How can you have some of the passion and persistence that others seem to have rub off on you? What are the habits of successful people?
First and foremost, you need to figure out what you want to accomplish and set mini goals to help you reach your ultimate weight loss goal. Is there some special occasion that you need to lose weight for? Do you have a target weight in the back of your mind? Is your goal to feel more refreshed and regain lost energy, or is your health the motivating factor? Those are the questions you need to answer.
Keep a record of your weight loss every week. Keep track of your weight so you can compare it weekly. Use the same book to keep track of the food you consume. Hold yourself accountable, and write down each thing that you eat. By forcing yourself to write out your food, you will become less apt to eat junk.
If you get to the point of true hunger, you are asking for weight loss trouble. At this first sign of a hunger pang, you are putting your diet in danger. Schedule your meals and menus in advance, and have snacks on hand to eat when you're hungry. Whenever you can, you should pack your lunch. By packing a lunch, you are saving money and avoiding potentially bad choices while at work or school.
A weight loss plan that incorporates both diet and exercise is best. You have to take the time for physical activities that you actually want to do. If you just can't seem to find the time to workout, try incorporating exercise into more enjoyable activities. Do you like to spend time with your guy friends? Go with them on a bike riding adventure. Are you a wild one? Hit a Jazzercise class! Do you escape life by going out into nature? Hit the hiking trails!
The advice is well-known, though not many put it into action. Purge your home of diet pitfalls, such as comfort foods and sugary or salty snacks. You will not be as tempted to eat junk food if it is not taunting you from your kitchen cupboards. Instead, make sure you have a lot of healthy options in your pantry, such as fruit, vegetables and nuts. If you get rid of all of the unhealthy choices you will not be able to eat them.
Above all, remember who you are doing this for - you! That doesn't mean, however, that you can't rely on your friends and family to help make your weight loss journey easier. Don't be afraid to ask for a little reassurance. Do not let your temptations take over, call on a friend who will give you the motivation that you need to stay on the right track.
