Trying to lose weight can be a monotonous task that never seems to lead anywhere. You start out motivated and ready to conquer the world, but fear and confusion can put a damper on that feeling pretty fast. How do people stay motivated to lose weight and stay thin? How can some people remain motivated while others fall flat?
You need to know what you want to get out of exercise if you want to develop a fitness plan that is right for you. You need to figure out if you just want to lose a few pounds, or if you are planning to see significant changes in both weight and size. Is increasing your standard level of energy a goal in your exercise routine? What are your weight loss goals?
It should be a goal for you to keep track of your progress every day to see your weight loss improvement. Check your weight weekly, and maintain a food journal. By noting which foods and drinks we consume, we empower ourselves to make wiser weight loss decisions.
Choosing foods after you are already hungry is setting yourself up to fail. When you're famished, you have no self control. Plan your meals in advance. Bring snacks with you, too. Make your lunch from home and bring it with you whenever you can. Not only does this help you stay on track with healthy nutrition choices, it can also help your finances!
Eating right and keeping up to your regular exercise regimen is the best way to lose weight. Try to exercise 3 or 4 times a week, but be sure to allow a few days a week for your body to rest. Do not let boredom get a hold of you, take every opportunity to make having fun your primary goal. Join a dance club or class, for example, if you already enjoy dancing.
Get rid of all the unhealthy food from your kitchen. You can't give into temptation if rich, fatty foods aren't available. Stock your kitchen full of healthy foods you love. The more difficult it is for you to eat junk food, the less likely you are to eat it.
Do you have a friend that wants to lose weight too? If so, set up goals together and be there to encourage each other when the other is lacking in motivation. Even when you are at the end of your rope, your friends can cheer you on and help you stay on track. Make sure to use your support network when necessary. Your friends and family share the desire to see you succeed, so if you hit a bump in the road, ask one of them for the advice, assistance or encouragement you need to overcome the obstacle and get back on the road to achieving your goal.
