Sometimes we think achieving lasting weight loss isn't in the cards for us. We start with all the enthusiasm and motivation in the world, and then get discouraged when we feel the soreness from our first workout. What are the obstacles preventing you from losing weight?
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Have you set a goal of how much weight you want to shed? What about clothes? Would you like to go down a size or two, or maybe fit into your current wardrobe better? Are you in need of a better figure and a bit more energy?
Try keeping a diary for your weight loss journey. It is easy; all you have to do is log everything you consume in a day and also jot down the weight you lose. When you have sufficient documentation, look at your consumption and your weight loss and make any necessary adjustments.
If you are hungry, you are not yourself which means having snacks available. Sudden hunger can derail any weight loss effort, so keeping snacks handy can prevent an unplanned stop for an unhealthy meal. Plan ahead for your meals. Take a bagged lunch with you. It can really save you a lot of money.
A truly great weight loss plan will focus on both diet and exercise. It is important that you take part in workouts that you enjoy a minimum of five times a week. If you just can't seem to find the time to workout, try incorporating exercise into more enjoyable activities. Is spending time with your buddies important? Then you could play a game of basketball with them, or some other sport you like. Do you enjoy dancing the night away? Hit a Jazzercise class! Are you happiest when you are basking in the glories of nature? Put on your hiking boots and enjoy nature while walking toward fitness.
Keep anything you can't eat out of your home. At first your family may find it a bit difficult to adjust, but they will come to realize that it is important for all of you to be healthy. Pack your pantry and refrigerator with healthy food choices instead of junk. However, this doesn't mean you have to suffer from a lack of snack foods. Fruit makes a great snack for both children and adults. Granola is a healthy snack that any age group can enjoy.
Ask your friends if they will help you throughout your weight loss process. Although no one else can lose weight for you, the support from others will be invaluable when you are tempted to just give up. Your friends are there to help you stay motivated.
