Losing weight can be a daunting task! You may do great the first couple of weeks, but slowly start losing your motivation. Then you begin to ponder how other people have been successful enough to reach their goals. You have to marvel at how they manage it!
Your first major step towards weight loss is to know what success looks like. Specifically, what are your goals, and how will you know you have reached them? Why do you want to lose weight, what do you hope to accomplish? Do you want to drop a size or two? Are you trying to get to a certain weight? Or, like most people, do you simply want to make your body fitter and healthier?
Keep records of your weight loss from week to week. Each and every day, you must document everything you consume, which includes the small samples and tastes that you think don't count. You gain an added sense of accountability when you write down what you've eaten. Keeping this diary will remind you to eat healthier and make better choices.
If you wait until you are starving, you may be more likely to make bad food decisions. Make sure to have healthy foods available to you when you are away from home to avoid this type of problem. It is far better to bring a bagged lunch wherever you are going, than to end up in a fast food restaurant. Bringing a lunch along will help you avoid temptations. In addition to cutting back on calories, bagged lunches are also cheaper than eating out.
It is important to eat healthy and exercise daily. Scheduling a certain amount of time weekly for exercise will provide you with more energy If you find exercises that you frequently perform to be difficult, find things that you like and do them instead. Call up a few buddies and head out for a night of dancing or go for a fun walk.
Eliminate junk food from your home, your place of business, and any other place that you frequent on a regular basis. The simple fact is you cannot eat something that is not there. After removing the junk food, stock those areas with healthy food choices that will be readily available to you. Have fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts handy for when you feel like snacking.
Identify a workout buddy you can always call on to exercise with you. Holding yourself accountable for your workout can be difficult, just as it is easy to find reasons not to workout. Working out with friends helps keep you motivated to keep going, especially when you start feeling fatigued or discouraged. By encouraging one another, you'll increase both of your chances for success.
