Losing weight and keeping it off can seem like an unattainable goal. We start with all the enthusiasm and motivation in the world, and then get discouraged when we feel the soreness from our first workout. What is the recipe for weight loss success?
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Exactly how much do you intend to lose? What about clothes? Would you like to go down a size or two, or maybe fit into your current wardrobe better? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
The weight you lose weekly should be charted. Develop a log that allows you to track your efforts across many weeks. Don't forget to log your food consumption in the same diary. By jotting down your food intake on a daily basis, you are more likely to stick with the program because you are holding yourself responsible. The simple task of writing it down can prevent you from making poor choices in foods.
If you're hungry, don't make rash decisions in regards to food. If you wait until you're excessively hungry, you're more likely to make unhealthy eating choices, to eat impulsively, or to overeat. Make sure you have healthy foods on hand all the time. Don't hit the fast food joints every day. Pack your lunch instead. Eating in is a fabulous way to shed weight and save your hard earned cash.
Being able to balance healthy eating and exercise is the key to permanent weight loss. It is very important to exercise at least three days out of the week. If this has been where you have failed in the past, plan instead to incorporate exercise into things you already enjoy. Try to get your friends involved by asking them to walk with you. Consider taking a hike if you love being outside. If you love to dance, why not give a dance class a whirl and practice some new steps.
Everyone knows that it's good for them, but not many actually go through with it. Throw away all the unhealthy snacks and junk food from your home! You will not be able to go grab those unhealthy foods if they are not there. Use healthy alternatives like fresh fruit and vegetables. All the things that are bad for you should be discarded. You will not crave them so much when you don't see them.
Your weight loss is up to you. However, if you ask friends and family for support, the task will be much easier. Sometimes you will feel discouraged and need someone to share your feelings and a healthy snack with. When temptation calls, call on the help of your friends and family to offer much-needed support.
