You can feel overwhelmed when you are trying to lose weight. You may lose weight rapidly at first, and then stagnate for a time. Many people manage to meet their weight loss goals. You have to marvel at how they manage it!
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Do you have an idea of how much weight you would like to lose? Is there a certain clothing size you want to wear, or do you want your current wardrobe to fit you comfortably once again? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
Keep tabs on exactly how much weight you lose every week. Weigh yourself once a week, and log what you eat in a food journal each day. Keeping a daily journal of the foods and beverages you ingest helps you to see what what seems to be working and what doesn't, allowing you to make informed choices about your diet.
When you feel like you are starving, you are more likely to grab the first thing that comes along, even if it happens to be bad for you. To avoid being faced with the dilemma of making bad food choices, make sure to pack healthy and nutritious foods when you leave the house. It is much wiser to take your lunch to work or school, rather than eating out. Bringing your own lunch will help you resist cravings and give you better control over the calories you eat. As it's typically much less expensive to bring your own lunch than to dine out, you could end up saving money as well as your waistline!
Every weight loss plan must include both a healthy diet and an effective exercise program. You need to keep up your healthy eating plan and exercise regularly in order to keep losing weight, so don't hesitate to combine working out and having fun. If you are not motivated, get a work out buddy. Turn it into a family event by taking a bike ride or a stroll in the park. You won't even be aware that you are getting exercise!
Eliminate junk food from all of the places that you spend significant amounts of time and eat on a regular basis. It may seem drastic, but if it isn't available, then you can't eat it. Stock your home, office and other locations where you might eat, with a variety of healthful food selections. Store a bunch of healthy snacks around, such as trail mix, nuts, fruits and vegetables, for those times when you must eat something quickly.
Use your buddies for help. Your true friends will be glad to answer. Be sure to gather supportive people around you. Your support system is there to give you the advice and encouragement you need to proceed toward your goal. If things aren't going well, reach out to your friends for support.
