Losing weight can seem like such a far off goal. We start with plenty of excitement and dedication, but as the days pass, we start to feel tired, become unmotivated and stop. Why does everyone's body work differently when losing weight? There seem to be people who have an easier time keeping off the weight. What's their secret?
The first thing you need to do when thinking about weight loss is figure out what your goals are. Can you visualize a certain number that you would like to see on the scale? Is it your goal to slide into a new pair of jeans that are several sizes smaller, or just feel more svelte in the clothes you already wear? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
Be sure to track your weight loss once a week. Don't forget to make a daily list of everything that passes your lips, no matter how big or small. When you write down what you have eaten, you can keep better track of your diet. In addition, this will help you make better choices when it comes to food and beverages.
When you allow yourself to get very hungry, you will be far more likely to make poor choices. You may end up eating whatever is on hand rather than making a more healthful choice. Avoid being faced with poor choices unexpectedly by planning your meals and snacks for each day and packing them to take along wherever you go. Pack your lunch based off of your plan, instead of dining out. You will save lots of money and get a better quality of food. The food you prepare for yourself will have far less fat, sodium and calories than anything you could buy at a restaurant or fast food eatery.
While dieting is a great start, you will be able to lose weight more quickly and efficiently by exercising. Combining a healthy diet with good exercise habits is the key to making real progress. To help you stay motivated to exercise, find activities you enjoy. Find activities that are both healthy and vigorous. Enroll in classes you find interesting and try to engage in friendly conversation while you do your workouts.
Make junk food hard to get your hands on. Try to not buy junk food at all. When everything in your kitchen is healthy, chances are you will gravitate toward those items.
Workout with someone you know. If we are on our own, we often make excuses to relieve ourselves of more difficult responsibilities. When you work out with a friend, it is more likely you will keep going. Friends help by giving support and motivation.
