In the beginning of a weight loss program, goals can seem unreachable, and the process might feel joyless. It is easy to be motivated when you first start you routine, but as time passes you may lose interest. How do people stay motivated to lose weight and stay thin? How can some people remain motivated while others fall flat?
Initially, plan exactly what you hope to achieve with your weight loss regimen. Is one of your goals to fit into a specific size of attire? Do you have a weight in mind which you would like to achieve? Is it important to you to feel more fit and healthy?
Be sure to keep track of the progress you are making each week. Hold a record of your progress and update it each week. In the journal, keep track of what you are eating on a daily basis and where you are eating it. Writing down the foods that you consume will help you become more aware of what you are eating, thus inspiring you to stick to healthy foods.
If you become too hungry, your ability to make rational food choices will diminish and you may end up on an eating binge that you will later regret. Avoid being faced with poor choices unexpectedly by planning your meals and snacks for each day and packing them to take along wherever you go. Pack your lunch based off of your plan, instead of dining out. Homemade food usually has fewer calories and less fat than what you would eat at a fast food joint or restaurant.
While dieting is a great start, you will be able to lose weight more quickly and efficiently by exercising. Integrating exercise into your weight loss program will improve your results. If you make your exercise something that appeals to you, you will more than likely stick to your routine. Look for physical activities that are fun and engaging, so they will hold your interest in the long run. Find ways to socialize while working out. One excellent way is to join a class that you find interesting and invite your classmates to coffee after class.
If all you have in the house is junk food, it should be no surprise that you reach for it first when you are hungry. By simply replacing unhealthy foods with healthy snacks in your fridge and cupboard, you can change your eating habits. Make sure your kitchen is stocked with good foods. The simplest way to cut back on your junk food consumption is to not buy it at all. Once you replace the junk food with healthier options, then you'll be more likely to make healthy food choices.
Have your friends support you in whatever way they are able. They might not be able to lose the weight for you, but their unconditional support is the next best thing. If you have someone to be accountable to, then it makes it easier to stay with the plan when you feel like giving up. Look to your friends or family for moral support when you feel down. They will help you stay motivated and keep striving for your goals.
