Sometimes, it is easy to forget why you are putting yourself through all this work. The first few steps of your journey may have been easy, but you soon find yourself on rockier terrain. How can you gain inspiration from more motivated people around you? How are these people able to obtain and keep success?
Setting clearly defined goals is one of the most important steps in weight loss. Are you looking to shed lots of pounds, or do you just want to reclaim clothing that has not been worn for many years? Is feeling better and healthier something you want to accomplish? You should set a weight loss goal to give yourself something to achieve.
It is a great source of motivation to record your weight lost progress on a weekly basis. Check your weight weekly, and maintain a food journal. Making a note of what you consume gives you accountability, which will often lead to better food choices.
Do not let yourself get too hungry, or you may find yourself choosing unhealthy food. Make sure you avoid this problem by bringing healthy foods along with you. It is much wiser to take your lunch to work or school, rather than eating out. Bringing a lunch along will help you avoid temptations. It is much cheaper than eating out so you will find that you aren't only losing weight, but you are helping your wallet!
Dieting by itself is usually not enough for weight loss. Exercise added to your healthy diet will facilitate your progress. It will be easier for you to stick to your workout regimen if you like it. Activities should focus on both making you feel healthy as well as involving you in vigorous exercise. Find ways to socialize while working out. One excellent way is to join a class that you find interesting and invite your classmates to coffee after class.
You won't eat junk food if there isn't any around. Ask yourself whether it makes more sense to try and keep it out of sight or to just not buy it in the first place. You are more likely to eat healthy foods if you are surrounded by them.
Invite a friend to workout with you. If we are on our own, we often make excuses to relieve ourselves of more difficult responsibilities. Working out with friends helps keep you motivated to keep going, especially when you start feeling fatigued or discouraged. A friend can provide motivational support, suggestions or tips to help you lose weight.
