There are times when you may feel as if your plan to lose weight is impossible to achieve. You may be pushing hard to begin with, only to lose steam soon afterwards. You may start to ask yourself why certain people can manage this when you can't. How on earth do they manage it?
Before you do anything else, decide on some realistic weight loss goals. Do you want to break out your old wardrobe that has been gathering dust in the closet, or are your goals bigger? Or would you like to improve your overall health and fitness levels? You should set a weight loss goal to give yourself something to achieve.
Track your progress in a journal. Only weigh yourself one time weekly. If you weigh yourself too often, it can be a detriment to your self-esteem. Write down everything you eat and the number of calories each food item or drink contains. Write about the things you drink and include snacks as well. It may turn out that writing down what you are considering putting in your mouth can help you make a more positive and healthy choice.
It is way too easy to make fast, but poor, food selections when you feel as if you're starving. You're not taking into account whether it's a healthy choice - you just want to ease your hunger pangs as quickly as possible! You should always keep snacks available and schedule time to eat your meals. Take food with you when you leave the house, so you are not forced into unhealthy fast food. Not only will this reduce your food costs, but it will also cut back on the calories you eat.
Every weight loss plan must include both a healthy diet and an effective exercise program. For steady weight loss, try a combination of diet and exercise. You can also have fun by doing activities that involve exercise. If you are not motivated, get a work out buddy. Turn your exercise routine into a family affair, whether it's a jog through a park or a scenic bike ride. You won't even be aware that you are getting exercise!
Most everyone has heard about this method, yet people rarely do it. Remove from your fridge and pantry all junk food and calorie-laden snacks. If they are not on hand, then you will not reach for them out of temptation. Be sure to fill the void with healthful choices such as yogurt, fruits & veggies, nuts, whole grains, and other nourishing foods. Don't just strive to make it difficult to choose unhealthy alternatives. Strive to make it impossible, at least not without having to make a special trip to the store. Before long, you'll start to enjoy your new healthy snacks, and won't even miss the old ones.
Make use of your friends' help. Of course, you must lose the weight for yourself, but still, it's nice to have a cheering section to keep you going. Be certain your friends are willing to talk you through those times when you are fatigued, discouraged or simply need extra motivation. People can help you get through your whole weight loss program.
