Losing weight can seem like such a far off goal. Over time we tend to lose interest and the momentum that we had when we started. How come it seems to be so easy and simple for some people? It is possible to lose weight and keep it off. What can you do to accomplish the same thing?
It is important to figure out your goals from the beginning to help you lose weight. Do you hope to shed those last 10 pounds that have been bugging you, or are you planning on a dramatic, lifestyle changing weight loss? Figure out why losing weight is important to you. Figure out if you want to lose the weight in order to have more energy or to lose a dress size.
Keep regular records of your weight. Use a diary or log to track your weight loss progress each week. In the same book, track your diet. By jotting down your food intake on a daily basis, you are more likely to stick with the program because you are holding yourself responsible. The act of writing things down may well diminish your desire for excess food.
When you allow yourself to get very hungry, you will be far more likely to make poor choices. You may end up eating whatever is on hand rather than making a more healthful choice. Plan your meals in advance and take them with you if you are busy. Prepare lunch in advance rather than eating junk food on the go. Homemade food usually has fewer calories and less fat than what you would eat at a fast food joint or restaurant.
Every successful and healthful weight loss plan combines reasonable exercise and a balanced eating plan. It is imperative that you schedule workouts several times per week to stay active and energized. If staying motivated to exercise is a problem for you, then think outside the box and try non-traditional exercises. Call up a few buddies and head out for a night of dancing or go for a fun walk.
Obviously, if you have no junk food in your cupboards, you will be far less likely to eat it. Keep healthy foods on hands in your kitchen instead. Choose things like fresh fruits and vegetables, hummes and granola. Abstain from ever buying anything unhealthy that might be a temptation. Don't even buy it when you are at the grocery store!
Ask your friends to give you support. Even though it is down to you to lose the weight, remember that your family and friends can offer encouragement, especially when you feel like giving up. These are the people you should lean on when you are right on the brink of giving up. Friends can support you throughout your journey.
